Dear.

Anyway, full moon is termed "Tai Yin", which means "Great Yin".  Hence, full moon is actually the most yin, not yang.

The dizhi signs, whether of month, day or hour, always relate to the amount of sunlight.  Hence, for months the deepest winter is the Zi sign.  For the hour the deepest midnight is Zi.  Full moon is where Zi is.

The tiangan signs measure some planetary movements.  These planet movements are independant of the dizhi signs.  In ancient times, the planetary movements used to be tracked through the 28 Lunar Constellations, an art most have forgotten today and hence got mixed up with wrong datings.

The ancient records show that ancient Chinese astrologers used the 28 Lunar Constellations to track years, months, days and hours.  These are actual astronomical movements, not solar or even luni-solar calendrical formula which are susceptible to deviations and the precession of the equinoxes.  Measure Time direct from the stars and you won't go too wrong!

OK?

Best regards

Hi Dr. Ong

2.Noon at Greenwich is Wu the Horse. Your Toronto is 80 degrees west of Greenwich. The real Noon (or Wu) at Toronto should arrive 5.2 hours after Noon at Greenwich. Find out the time zone for your area and adjust. Determine your actual hour sign of birth.

3.Full Moon is Zi and New Moon is Wu. The 2 to 3 days perods with full or new moon in the middle are the real Zi ad Wu signs. Find out how your Day of birth relates to the moon cycle - that should be your real dizhi sign.

-Are you saying here that I should use solar cycles to calculate the hour sign and lunar cycles to calculate day signs ? I don't understand how you can equate Full moon with Zi and New with Wu. It is hard to fathom extreme yang (full moon) with the most yin branch, and the most yin moon phase with the most yang branch. What is your reasoning for this?.

More on our discussion with Dr Ong:
Dear ,

Thank you for the discussions. This email may be the conclusion of our discussions.

Where do you learn that wrong concept about qi? This mistaken concept is not in the ancient texts. Even others who believe that the Bagua should not change would not agree with you. You have a long way to go, especially as you may not have read the ancient Feng Shui texts.

The ancient texts do not say that Heaven and Earth are produced by qi, but that it is Heaven which produces the qi. Earth does not come from qi, as qi from Heaven has to follow the shape of Earth’s terrain, mountains and rivers. Qi does not produce the weather, but the weather modifies the qi, as this is what is meant in the great Feng Shui maxim that "the wind disperses qi and water nurtures the qi." Most important in our discussions, the tilt of Earth is not caused by qi, but this tilt will modify qi, causing different seasonal manifestations of qi in the Northern and Southern Hemipheres, the poles, and, in your case, the equator.

Sorry you could not appreciate the scientific evidence for Feng Shui. You asked some questions and I thought I could clear up your confusion. Hope you will wake up later.

Thanks anyway for showing how the other side thinks, as that did stimulate further thinking.

Best wishes,

Dr.Ong

The difference between the northern and southern hemisphere calculations is an issue that has been raging on for years. Without getting into a long drawn out discussion on the subject, I just wanted to mention a few points. The problem that seems to be affecting you and  Roger Green, and others is that they are comparing weather conditions rather than chi. In metaphysics there can be no question that as a whole, universal chi takes precedence over any localized conditions including weather patterns or other local biases. Weather may have its affects, but when the earth is taken as a whole we must look at it from a unitary point of view. In those terms we see the earth as a single unit rather than a split unit containing two halves (north and south). The earth makes its rotations through the heavens as ONE entity and the whole of that single entity is affected by chi. Since yin and yang is an extension of chi , it is reasonable to conclude that yin and yang affects the whole of the earthly organism in the same manner. It does not single out or choose one portion of the earth in one manner and the other in a different one. Weather patterns may do this but chi does not. If the earth were spinning only on its axis, the north/south hemisphere arguments could possibly have more validity, but the earth is traversing on the ecliptic as a whole and is therefore affected AS A WHOLE rather than as segmented portions.

Let us not forget that weather conditions and everything else on earth emerge from chi. Yin and yang chi produces weather conditions...weather does not produce chi. It is the chi that determines the pattern and sets the conditions in motion, and does so for every part of the earth. It is only then that weather reacts in the way it does according to the cycles that chi has produced. It is not unreasonable to conclude that if chi is the PRODUCER, then it must also be the AFFECTOR. And this affect, again, is universal and all-encompassing rather than biased to certain locales.

Weather conditions do not determine the energy values for astrology, divination, etc. That job is reserved for chi. The motions of the celestial movements/rotations set the standards, so to speak. For instance, in 9 Ki the daily energy cycles move in forward motion from appx. Dec.21 through June 21, and then in reverse order from appx. June 21 through Dec.21. This occurs because of chi influence and the earth's position in relation to the sun at certain parts of the year. It has nothing to do with weather conditions. The earth's position relative to the sun includes both the north and south hemisphere and therefore, both hemispheres receive the same chi influence because they are rotating together as a whole. It does not matter what the weather conditions are in Dec. or June, the chi will shift because of universal factors...NOT local ones.

There is so much more to be said about this but we can leave that for future discussion. There is much written on the net and other outlets concerning this subject and it can get extremely confusing when different thoughts are considered. If you are of the belief that the north and south hemispheres warrant different chi values, then by all means continue on your path. I would suggest everyone do their own studies and research and develop their own conclusions. I would also suggest that one keep in mind that it is chi (which branches from Tao), and not weather or other conditions that is the producer and determining factor of all things existing in the northern and southern hemisphere. When the earth is looked at as a whole, the n/s hemisphere issue begins to become more clear.

Best Wishes
