The pain and joy of self learning .

The joy of being a selflearner is that you are your own teacher with no date line no homework to worry about. you can do your own research at your own time. And when you can answer a intermediate level question and get praise for being smart & resourceful thats the kind of satisfaction you get... Grin Grin

The pain of being a selflearner is that sometime you get lost of direction. Your head get heavy when you cant understand the jargons & the meaning of it. You got stuck in some questions that seem to have no answer. you need help but no one seem to be able to enlighten you...

The worst answer they can give is

" Go payup and learn frm a master lah!!!"

If you submit to it you are lost in all these year of being a carefree self-learner.

So for all thoses doing selfstudy in any subjects lets us encourage eachother and share our pain and joy in this tread... Grin Grin

Hi remoteviewer,

It is actually the individual's aptitude and attitude that matters most.  Some people pay to attend classes but still mired in mediocrity because they have the wrong expectation (that 1 subject, 1 teacher is sufficient or their teacher is the best in the market) or the wrong attitude (that after attending class, without doing much experiment, verification or revision they can master the subject or knowledge).

After all, in school the same teacher can produce A-grade or F-grade student within the same class.  This already tells us it is the individual that matters more than the course & teacher.  As long as one possesses the right expectation and attitude, even self-studying will make him better off than someone who paid to learn without the right expectation and attitude.

Yes naturally there are many factors affecting it. 1 just has to set his goal, focus and go all out for it. Life is short better grab it before the next sunrise... Cool Grin

So anyone has any real life stories to share???

Got interested in bazi around March, friends donate books when they found out i wish to master it. Check through JY & LT website course fee is too high & no follow up. So i decided to do my own study without a formal mentor. Occasionally i'll ask dob frm friends & amaze them with my nonstandard bazi reading...  Grin it fun when you see their expression.
That's how the legend start ha ha....

So whats your stories...

Hi silver2306
I c u made an effect to self-study good

These are the english book i've read
1.  Eight Characters by Lillian Too
2.  Ba Zi: the Destiny Code by Joey Yap
3.  Ba Zi: the Destiny Code Revealed by Joey Yap
4.  vincent koh's unveil your destiny

Most advance bazi book will be

Four Pillars of Destiny (Intermediate) - English Version Tan Khoon Yong
"Essential of Four Pillars of Destiny" sets the foundation for "Four Pillars of Destiny (Intermediate)". It lays out the instructions and information relating to Life Analysis and Eight Characters in a systematic editorial style, thereby conducting aspects on Resources Deity, Amiable Deity, Competitive Deity, Deities of Talent, Wealth and Authority among the Ten Deities in great depth.

Happy reading

hi remoteviewer,

I'm already studying the LT & JY books u specified. But have not seen Vincent Koh/Tan Khoon Yong's titles on Malaysian shelves. So far have not found an english book covering 10 Deities in detail here. So quite hanging in the basic level...

So whats your stories...
it is impressive that you can read to this detail on self studying, and only starting in march!!!   Wink

For me, i always have interested in CM, and really invest into JY Bazi course last June ... coming 1 year anniversary, but sad to said that stil half past 6 in reading ...  Tongue

not sure what's your budget, but you can check Vin Leo course ...

Hi silver2306,
if you based in SGP, the only English book that describe 10 gods would be "Essential of Four Pillars of Destiny" and "Four Pillars of Destiny (Intermediate)". The real author is actually Master Goh Guan Leong ... you can find them at www.wayonnet.com, or Kinokuniya, or make an inquiry at Popular.

however, if you read mandrain, there are much more and cheaper choices of mandrain books on 10 gods topics ... in fact, if you surf around, you can already much basic info on 10 gods ...

Hi,

Are there any other books besides "Four Pillars of Destiny (Intermediate)" by Master Goh Guan Leong?
I read some chapters of it and saw that it describes alot about Resources Deity, Amiable Deity, Competitive Deity, Deities of Talent, but not much is said how it does interact with one another in Bazi.
any other recommandations?

how i wish i'm better in my mandarin....
thanks!!
