Hi Is it common for people who have bad branches to desire to move abroad or are there other indications that incline one to move?
Thanks

Hi slayer, Do you mean branches that involve clash, punishment, destruction, etc? From what I have read, if there is a presence of Yima, Traveling Horse star in any branch, tendency of movements (physical/mental) are more likely. But the condition you stated can be true as well. All my four earthly branches interact with each other: hour & day clash, day & month destruction, month & year harm with 3 cardinals in the branches. When I was a child, I did have a very strong desire to study abroad, even go as far as applying for entrance scholarship to NTU in Sg twice. But it was not my time yet, I didn't get accepted. Must be fate - what is not ours will not be ours... Parents' financial condition was also not supporting at that time, so waited until I was 20. Who knows end up in Canada suddenly . Now that I'm abroad, I think it does not matter anymore. Being with the people who love you ( your family & friends) is still the best. Sometimes the thought of parents, grandparents we leave back home...you just wish you had more time to spend with them.

Hi slayer
I assuming that "bad branches" you mean here is the earthly branches involves in many relationship such as clash, punishment, harm, destruction, and combo.
Usually a person having the EB involves in many relationship denotes instability of life. Thus, you might be correct to say that they are frequently moving/travelling.

You're right there's a Si-Hai (day & month) clash in the first chart, yet the desire to move is not there. I'm wondering if we should also consider the life pillar (Ming Gong). I've been thinking a lot about that pillar lately. There are 8 pillars in total, and I usually did not pay attention to the remaining 4 pillars. I understand that I'm still way too beginner to delve into that yet... For a Ren Yin life pillar (to a Geng DM), there's a traveling horse/Yima contained in the Yin branch. That can be a trigger for the DM to travel more in his life. But perhaps it's too easy to draw a conclusion like that without considering other interactions in the chart.

How do you calculate life pillar? Can you tell me mine? Born: 9 jan 1962 14.00 thanks

Hi slayer,
Your life pillar is Ding You. There's Tian Yi and Academic nobleman in You (your indirect wealth). I'm still figuring out how it has something to do with the desire to travel.
You have a Chou-Wei clash (double?) that might indicate work or movement during the middle age, since the most obvious clash happens between day and month pillar.
命宫是人出生时在东方升起的星座,主宰一个人的天赋才能。命宫在人体中属大脑,管一个人的思相、行为,非常重要。 Life palace is the star constellation that rises at the east during the birth. Very important to govern one's talents, gifts, thoughts and actions.
辰酉宫, 金星之垣也. 生于此垣, 以金为主. 其为人也, 多才多艺, 宜于攻习文艺, 书画, 音乐, 喜剧, 雕刻, 金石, 装饰及有关美术之学艺. When life palace is in Chen or You, multi-talented: suitable to study art & literature (e.g., music, decoration).
14 - (month branch# + hour branch #) = branch of life pillar.
26-(月令(过候加一)+时辰)=命宫 If the number is negative, use 26 instead of 14.
For example, if the person is born in Zi month and You hour: the month branch# = 11. Hour branch # will be 8. So, the life pillar is given by Shen: 26 - (8 + 11) = 7.

so the LP is the real self? I know my conception is Ren-chen.Know what that means? You say there are 8 pillars. What are the other two? thanks a lot

Hi slayer, I'm not very clear about the other two pillars too... Life pillar sounds more straightforward to me, and it's only my guess that it could affect us to a certain degree. As for Conception Pillar (Tai Yuan), I read it was the 10th month prior we were born. It could be auspicious or inauspicious if it counters any of the four pillars. I was trying to translate, but just came across this post by Ken explaining it nicely http://fengshuiforward.com/forum/index.php/topic,451.0.html.
