With the 3K in the north in the coming Geng Yin year should one stop an external water feature/ fountain in the northern part of the garden as well. It was also kept not working in 2009 because of 5Y too.

Hi Pearl,

If you want to err on the side of caution, you can keep it idle for the next year as well.  Otherwise, we still need to consider the house natal stars as well.

It is a P7 N1 facing house  ( S1 sitting ) with 8 water Star and 6 mountain star at main door sector. The NW sector is missing as it is not enclosed  but only have roof. Your advice is appreciated.

Hi pearl,

If the main door is there, even if you turn off the fountain, the 3k still can be disturbed by the frequent movement around the door area.  Since it is a door with good Flying Stars, you can consider to keep the fountain if you want, but preferably in the externa area.

Dear Master Ken,

Thank you Master Ken. The water feature is external about 8 metres from the main door and have to be refilled with water as it was emptied cos of 5Y.  Not sure if I am thinking rightly but the concern is that the water pump may break down if it is out of action for long.   It has been a very poor yr for me but I am going thru lousy LP too.

Hi pearl,

From Fengshui angle, I think it is ok to let the fountain pump water again.  But if the pump has already broken down, then you have to decide whether you want to replace it.  As for the bad luck, it is still heavily dependent on your destiny and less on Feng Shui since you have already avoided the bad by turning it off last year.

Dear Master Ken & colleagues,


I have thinking about this & been looking into Master JY Personal date selection book to find a suitable date. Wow it is tough to get a suitable date . Going by guidelines provided in the book & in his Tongshu dairy it seems good to select Success days. However this is where I get am confused as the' Conflict direction'  ( It says generally not advisable to renovate or perform important activities ) as written in the Tongshu is also North for Success Days. In addition the Tongshu also shows it to be a Dog Day such as 5th Feb is  Fire Dog Earth Day. The next Success Day  1st March 2010 but it is stated as not suitable for all activities as it is coloured all 'black'

We have Dragon, Snake, Pig and Monkey as our animal signs in  the household so the Dog day will clash with the Dragon.


So my question are - is it ok to use the Success day even though it is a Dog Day for this activity. Secondly, the " Conflict Direction is North for the Success Day, is activating a water feature the same as renovation is terms of performing important activity. By the way I also checked that the 3K days for Yin Yr is Pig, Rat & Ox so cannot use these days too

You can just address me as Ken.

Selecting a day is never easy if you do not know the weight of each conflicting consideration.  In simple terms, this is like a real life situation having to weigh which conflicting consideration to attach a greater weight in order to come to a decision.  For example, a working lady with a work schedule to meet has her baby fall ill and car break down on the same day such that she cannot possibly achieve all the conflicting needs of

1) meeting the work schedule; and
2) bringing her sick baby to the doctor; and
3) nursing the baby back to good health; and
4) repairing the car in time for her to run her errands

In such instances she will usually prioritize one and work around compromising solution for the other 3 considerations.

In my opinion, you need not have to stick to Success Day strictly and 3k is also not topmost of my concern.  Did his book give you the Chinese name of Confllict Direction?  Water feature does not achieve exactly the same effect as activation via knocking and hacking that is assoiciated with renovation. 

Consideration also must be given to the activity you are selecting the date for.

There are 2 chinese characters for the conflict direction but unfortuntely I cannot read them . I see that I have in the fortune virtue star for 2009. Need to book via on line  All dirt need to be washed away still to be washed. Anyway Arsh Harben and Vimala are working very well in Spore.
