Common Myths in Bazi

Some common myths in Bazi that have been perpetuated are as follows:

1 Running through good luck means good in all aspects (eg wealth, career, marriage, health family)
2 Favorable to get married during year which has HS and EB combining with Day Pillar (eg Geng Yin Year for a Yi Hai Daymaster)
3 Favorable to marry another DM that is involved in combo with your own DM.  eg Yi daymaster to marry a Geng Daymaster
4 For good luck, get a job that is classified under your favorable elements
5 Having 3 pillars information available means one can read 75% of a person's destiny
6 Combination is good
7 Clash is bad
8 Fu Yin is bad
9 Lots of Peach Blossom star means this person has lots of chance for romance
10 Balanced DM is always the best

I often come across the following implications of missing wood element:
1) Lacking the ability to be forgiving, generous, magnanimous, as wood represents benevolence?
2) Indicates the person is extremely materialistic?
3) Lacking the natural ability to progress and improve one self.

Maybe I'm wrong, all of them can turn out to be true. I can see the reason behind the last one (3), and somewhat agree to the extend the person always needs support from others. But without considering other factors, I don't think we can draw conclusions about 1) and 2) whenever a person has missing wood element in his/her bazi chart. Might also depend on what wood represents to one's chart in terms of 10 Gods.

What you have said is applicable on a general direction but consideration still needs to be given to the 10 Gods as well.

1) This can also be represented by direct resource
2) This can be represented by direct wealth or lack of wealth elements per se.  However, materialistic streaks are not represented by any 1 element in my opinion.  I rather think certain DM or certain 10 Gods are more materialistic.
3) This will be more appropriately represented by either the output or officer element.

Hence you are right that while it does have some truth in it, it is too generalized.  It is like saying a short guy can never play basketball well.  We know for a fact that short guys who are extremely atheletic and agile still can play basketball well.

It is interesting to note that you mentioned that Fu Yin is bad is a myth. Can you please elaborate.

What about Fan Yin- especially when it starts on the LP cycle & it for eg 10 yrs.  Is there no hope then ? Is there a 'remedy'or soft landing.

Essentially Fu Yin means seeing double of the same pillar which has no mention of the balance of the chart and usefulness of the pillar.

In fact another member also shared that Fu Yin was positive.

I know many people interpreted Fu Yin as negative by alluding to the meaning of the individual Chinese words to Fu Yin which means Hidden & Weep.  Ancient Chinese has a very indirect way of naming things that in this case was taken out of context by learners of Bazi. In Qi Men Dun Jia, there is also Fu Yin configuration and it also has nothing to do with weeping.  As in Qi Men Dun Jia, Fu Yin also relates to a situation of seeing double of the same thing.  In fact, in Qi Men Dun Jia, Fu Yin usually means one should lie in wait and hence the link to Fu (Hidden in wait) is established.
