Hi Oley,

In Chinese customs tradition, it is usually no.  However, we have to go back to understanding how this customs evolved.  In ancient China, people stay in villages.  Usually, people within the same villages are of the same surname.  If they marry someone they know of same surname, it is likely they are somehow related to each other by blood.

But if we use this same concept now, it is not so logical anymore.  There are so many Chinese all over the world today.  Certain Chinese surnames are very common.  They will bump into opposite sex members with the same surname quite often even though completely unrelated by blood.  We should all look beyond the tradition of not marrying the same surname.  Instead, think of whether this is a common Chinese surname and whether there is any reasons to suspect the couples are related by blood.

Hi Oley,

Ba Zi is not as precise as DNA analysis.  While we can generally rule out sets of Ba Zi that are not related by blood, the sheer size of the number of Ba Zi in this world means even if  1% of those fall into category that can potentially be the father of the original Ba Zi we are interested in, this 1% in sheer size is simply so huge that there can be so many possibility of the father Ba Zi

Are their children all ok in term of health i.e physically/intellectually?

Personnally i dun take this type of chances lol.. its better to be conservative abit sometimes.

People living in same villages may not be blood related but share same surname, but for my surname ancestor i knew he had 21 decendants spread across other parts of China/Taiwan or even migrations. so who knows i might bumped into someone sharing the same ancestor? haha..
