This is an interesting topic brought up by Gemini. I hope  Yijing practitioners can share their experience regarding the use of Yijing with bazi.

For myself, I normally use  六爻 for divination and it shares certain similarity with ziping bazi in term of the 6 神 relationship-

1)brother
2)wife/wealth
3)children
4)Officer/ghost
5)parent

However, to read the life and fortune of a person, 4p is still prefered. Certain questions that are event specific will best be analysed using divination although we can use divination to read one's fortune. (Its more tedious!)

It is useful to use yijing divination to counter check some of the analysis we have made in 4p. For example, if we suspect that one's health is in danger (My problem with 4p is that one element can mean alot of things...) we can then confirm it using divination. Even for fengshui analysis, you can use yijing divination together with Xuan Kong玄空 Fengshui.

However, if detailed analysis is required,  Qi Men Dun Jia 奇门遁甲 or Da Liu Ren 大六壬 are the leading choice.

End of the day, all these chinese metaphysical skills are there to train my mind and soul to react to our environment ,space and time. A true master has no strokes 无招!

Hi Willy,
this is an eye opener.  I have seen terms of 六爻 and 大六壬 but not sure what they were. Thanks for this introduction, but with the eyes open, there are more questions.   Grin

I have seen someone using QMDJ to do a life analysis similar to using 4P.  What is the strength of QMDJ over 4P?

Hope more experts can comment.

Btw, I fully agreed your comment on "... with 4p, one element can mean a lot of things", this make analysis difficult.

Hi Gemini,

I am afraid of saying that QMDJ life analysis is better than 4p because there will be many bazi masters who will disagree with me.(Myself will think that zwds is number 1  Tongue) I think a skillful astrologer will be able to do a good job irregardless of the system he/she uses.

Having said that, QMDJ is very useful when reading a person's fortune without time of birth known. You can even read a person fortune without knowing the birthdate but provided the person is sitting close to you! There are some qmdj masters in China who have combined 4p with QMDJ.

Hi Willy,
you make it sound like QMDJ is more powerful, can you share the weak point?
thanks

QMDJ is indeed the most comprehensive divination tool so far. I can't think of a weakness for it apart from the different school of thoughts regarding the intercalary period.

Hi Willy

May I know if Fengshui Forward conducts Yi Jing course? If not, where do you learn all these Chinese Metaphysics?

Hi Icly77,

We currently do not teach Yijing but that could be an option in future.
I learnt my Yijing through chinese books especially the classics and then practising and experimenting it. Are you interested in the subject?

You have been an active member so far, thank you very much. You, Xun and Germini have been keeping this forum alive these past few days and we really appreciate it. Cheesy

Thank you very much for the compliment. To begin with, you might like to read this book called ' The Authentic I Ching' by Dr Wang Yang and Jon Sandifer. It explains the 3 techniques of Yijing and I think it is a good book to start with. We can then exchange pointers in the forum.  Wink

Hi Willy

I went to Popular and The Borders bookstore and failed to find "The Authentic I Ching by Dr Wang Yang and Jon Sandifer". My last hope is at Kinokuniya bookstore.
